and the address

taking a long autumn walk in a city i had forgotten mostly because i'd never really gotten to properly know, happened to be one of the almost gone 2009 highlights. it had been 5 years since j first took me to bratislava, and re-visiting the same charming spots resembled reading a beloved story for the second/nth time = precedents are soooo overrated. besides, i love reconstructing old memories and furnishing them with an extra layer of emotions and associations. which is what you get by spending too much time reading freud, mind. oh, and having nearly minus-degree weather in the first half of october.

which brings my darling over-the-knee boots dilemma to life yet again. or rather thigh-high boots, to be precise. because, apparently, thigh-high is what ends up being over-the-knee on my legs. only one of the thousands of reasons i am so lucky to have a sister to complain to. she always understands. makes me totally wonder what would happen if we were actually twins (1979 study, seriously?).

regardless, i owe you an apology, my dear readers, for the serious deficiency of regular online presence of mine. there is quite a lot going on in my life right now, which is both exciting and a tad stressful, plus taking photos under the recent meteorological circumstances requires a lot of creativity and... heating.

and last but not least, herzlichen dank an michaela for the love, and all of the amazing tips and links. keep them coming

washed away

last weekend was pure insanity in all the good ways i could think of. a pier + serene waters + lazy afternoon sun = larger than life.

the week, on the other hand, has been oddly exciting. can't wait to see what tomorrow brings my way.

have a good weekend!

sin city

what began with a cold, humid, headache-y sunday morning evolved into a long, oozing with intensely emotional experiences day. one of those days when "long" is bad, good, unexpected, hypnotic, overwhelming, disappointing, novel, down-low, sky-high, and is-it-already-over...

lately i have been lucky enough to be traveling most of the time, so spending my days in jeans and flats has become a kind of a religious ritual = please excuse the not too exciting outfits.

anyway, since i get asked what camera i use pretty much on a daily basis, i guess it is high time i published the answer on the blog instead of replying per email: for nearly a year now we've been shooting with a nikon d90 after upgrading from a nikon d40. honestly, if i personally had to carry either one around, i would more than gladly downgrade to pocket cameras. but maybe that's only me 'cause i see huge dslr's literally everywhere. point is, up- and downgrading is just as relative as... all else?

on an indecently unrelated note, i am off to make myself my most favorite carrot-sour-cream-walnut-feta-cheese salad. hope you are all having a marvelous day/night because you deserve it.

double vision

every now and then blogging ends up being the very last thing to think of, want or need. (kudos to all of those consistently assiduous bloggers out there.) being away from my steadfast photographer made the case in point even worse/better, and i spent 3 weeks of www-, mobile-, camera- and tv-less summer. all in all, the perfect period of revived childhood, looking through ridiculously old photos included. (digital images find their way to paper only by exception = so wicked.) i got to spend some quality time with my mom and sister - having my thoughts verbalized before they even emerged in my head is always both unique and preciously familiar.

also:

0. a while back Jeremy sent me a beautiful illustration based on an outfit you might still remember. check out his work here.

1. i don't like my old apartment. it is overflowing with memories, and there is no room left for more. time to move on.

2. women-only road trips are insane, and i don't mean that in a bad way.

3. sunscreens can ruin your life. or at least your favorite top.

4. never fly with skyeurope again. ever. as if that were even possible now. ha!

5. rediscovering honeybush tea is nicer every time.

6. coming home to neglected images of july flowers explains the backdrop of this post.

7. holding my best friend's baby 15 hrs after her birth is an overwhelming sensation.

... and thank you for all the sweet words while i was gone!
